Training cost is $10 per CEU. (Current ASAC staff and interns will receive a 50% discount on registration fees for all ASAC sponsored trainings)
All ASAC-sponsored trainings listed on our website are pre-approved for substance abuse CEUs. Participants will receive certificates of completion to use for re-certification credits for other fields. It is the participant’s responsibility to determine if the training(s) will meet the requirements for their specific field.
Melissa Walker is a Certified Prevention Specialist and Deputy Director at the Area Substance Abuse Council. Melissa’s education and training includes a BA in Psychology and extensive training in resiliency, prevention, and creating community change. She has been working in prevention for over 15 years. Melissa has both a personal and professional interest in ACES and trauma informed care, and has been educating community members on trauma informed practices for the past five years.
Erin received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa. She started as a Prevention Specialist at ASAC in July of 2007 and became the Linn County Prevention Director in March of 2012. Erin enjoys the time she gets to spend training on how substances have a large impact in the health and safety of a community.
Curt received his Bachelor’s Degree from Mt. Mercy University and has been working with youth and families for over 20 years. He has been an ASAC Prevention Specialist since November of 2011. Curt believes in strong community partnerships to address many of the problems facing our youth, offering viewpoints as a professional and as a parent of two boys.
